DEAR DIARY I

Dear diary,
Today has been a long hard day. You’d think after all the things I have to put up with my family I wouldn’t have to deal with them at work too; but guess what? I do. KILL ME NOW.

Mensima Adams was tired, very tired; all she really wanted to do was go home, slip on her pyjamas and watch TV, but what was she doing instead? Standing in toe pinching six inch louboutin heels, a fake smile plastered on her face, and a glass of champagne in her hand at a corporate event. Her firm was hosting the event, and as such she had no choice but to mingle and make small talk with prospective clients, honestly though? She would give anything to be home right now.
Mensima was wrenched out of her thoughts by a decidedly unprofessional squeal followed by her name being called out by the last person in the world Mensima wanted to see-Her cousin Ewurama Addison.
“Sima! I can’t believe it’s you!! You’ve lost so much weight!! Were you sick or something?” Ewurama said in a deceptively innocent tone.
Mensima took a deep breath, turned to face her cousin and with a warm smile she didn’t feel replied
“Ewurama! Hi! What are you doing here? Did you get lost on your way to the bridal fair or something?” she laughed to show she was only joking and her cousin laughed too, though her laugh was a lot more forced.
“No silly! I’m here with Charles! You remember Charles my fiancĂ©? He asked me to come and wouldn’t take no for an answer, you know how men are. Who knew I’d see my favourite cousin here too?” she laughed, waving her hand around in such a way that one noticed the giant diamond on her finger
Did she just say favourite cousin? If I’m her favourite cousin, i shudder to think about how she treats our other cousins, Mensima thought darkly, and what does she mean by she didn’t know I’d be here? IVE BEEN WORKING AT THIS FIRM FOR FIVE YEARS!
“Anyways ,her cousin who had  either not noticed Mensima’s darkening countenance  or was most probably ignoring it continued “I’m planning a girls night in this weekend and I’d love for you to come, we’ve barely seen each other since I announced my engagement  and I’d hate for you to not be a part of my special day.” Before Mensima could think of a plausible excuse, her cousin continued.
“And I know you’re going to be at the wedding but you still need to spend a little time with me. I’ve missed you so much!! Speaking of the wedding, I placed you at the singles table, that way you won’t get too lonely. You’re ok with that right? I mean you could bring a plus one, but I know you won’t, so I really didn’t see the point in putting you with the other couples. This way at least, you get to meet new people right?”
Mensima took in a deep breath and counted to ten under her breath. She would NOT snap at her cousin at this event, no matter how annoying she was, she was still family, but maybe she could hire someone to “get rid” of her... now that idea had possibilities. Her macabre thoughts put a smile on her face, which her cousin took to mean consent.
I’m so glad you see things my way; my mum was worried you would be offended, but I told her you wouldn’t! I’m so happy we bumped into each other! I have to go, Charles is probably looking for by now. I’ll text you the details tomorrow ok? See you on Friday”. And without waiting for a response from the bemused lady, Ewurama walked away. Mensima stared at her cousin as she left, wondering if it was too late to switch to another family. How in the world could she be related to that person? And more importantly how was she going to survive an entire weekend without strangling her??

So this is the first part of the story, this isnt something ive done before, and i would like it if you could comment and review!! merci!! -Papillon

A NEW DAWN

Bonjour a tous!!!

I have decided to try my hand at writing (again). After exhausting myself with my first ever 12-chapter Nana Yaa,  I took a break from blogger and social networks in general to do some thinking and living and after almost a year,im back and rearing to go! I've got a new blog and gone back to the old (and simpler) blogger format and voila! Tales from room 102 has been born. The aim of this blog is to try my hands at creative writing and to grow as a budding authour. comments and reviews and constructive criticisms are not only asked for but are needed if i plan on ever improving. so that being said. On va commencer!!!
